Business-as-usual politicians are pushing everything from higher gas tax and vehicle fees to a sales tax increase.  They want to raise your taxes in order to pay for their favorite bureaucratic program.

 

Add up all the tax increases that are being thrown around and it’s a least $200 million a year in higher taxes.

 

The bureaucrats and special interest groups are lining up at the Capitol.  They are lobbying hard to feed their big-government spending habits.

To the Legislative Committee:


Whereas: common sense dictates that government should live within its means; and
Whereas: many South Dakotans simply cannot increase their spending under the current economic conditions; and
Whereas: any tax increases at this time would be a heavy financial burden on the families and individuals of this state; and
Whereas: the people of South Dakota overwhelmingly support efficient state government and are strongly opposed to big-government spending; and
Whereas:there are numerous areas of state spending that could be reduced without significantly affecting the appropriate functions of state government;
Therefore: I respectfully urge the committee to oppose all tax increases during the 2011 Legislative session and to balance the state budget by reducing the deficit with appropriate reductions in state spending.
